She's here!!

After almost a week I'm finally getting on here to announce the arrival of Sophia!

After being 10 days past my due date she is FINALLY here!! :D

My labor story:

On Wednesday (11/30) I started having contractions. At first I didn't even know that's what they were so I continued on with my normal bedtime routine not thinking too much about it. I went to bed and tried to get some sleep, but kept waking up to the contractions (still not realizing that's what they were). At 5:30 am Thursday morning I decided to just get up. Everyone else was of course still sleeping. That's when it hit me that I was in labor! I let everyone sleep because I still hadn't lost my mucus plug and my water hadn't broke so I figured I had a while before I had to go to the hospital. I also had a doctor's appointment that day so I decided to just wait it out and see what they said at my appointment.

At about 7:30am Thomas (hubby) got up thinking he was going to go to work that day. When he got up I told him "You might as well call into work and tell them your not coming in." He of course asked why and I told him "Because I'm having contractions." He asked why I didn't wake him up and I said because it's not time yet. We then went on with our morning. Contractions at this point were hurting, but not unbareable. I couldn't sit through them, though. If I was sitting when they came on I had to get up and walk around. It helped to walk around some, but they didn't completely go away.

Well, we just went on with our morning and Tom-Tom finally woke up at about 9am. Thomas had already said that he was going to the mall to pay on our internet bill so I decided that I was going to go too. I didn't want to sit around the house just focusing on my contractions. So, I took a shower and got ready. We got to the mall at around 10 am. Well, the internet place wasn't open yet, so I decided that we should walk around. We were there for about 2 hours. I lost a good amount of my mucus plug while we were there. My doctor appointment was at 1:15 that afternoon. Well, while we were at the mall I called to ask if I should come to the appointment or just go to the hospital. They told me to come to the appointment and then told me to come in at 1pm. Well, we left the mall and went straight to my appointment.

At the doctor I was called back fairly quickly and the medical assistant that I had seen my whole pregnancy was like "She just doesn't want to come out does she?!" I said "Oh no, she's coming today! I'm in labor right now!" lol Of course we went on with the normal bp and weight check. Got into the room and waited for what seemed like forever for my doc to come in. He said something about her not wanting to come out. I didn't tell him I was in labor at the moment. I figured when he checked me that he would figure it out for himself! lol He checked me and told me I was about 4-5 cm and told me to go to the hospital. I came out and told Thomas "Let's go to the hospital. He said I'm about a 4-5."

We got to the hospital (which is about a min from my dr office) got checked in, registered and everything. Went to the labor and delivery room. Got into my gown and got hooked up to all the monitors and I had to get an IV with some fluids because I hadn't been eating or drinking anything (I just couldn't do it because I felt kinda sick to my stomach if I did). At this point the contractions hurt bad, but I didn't feel like I was dying yet. I asked for an epidural, but couldn't get one until I got some fluids in me. The nurse said I had to have at least one and half bags of fluids before I could get the epi.

So, all we could do at this point was wait! About 2 hours later at about 4pm I went to roll over to get checked and my water broke the nurse told me that it was meconium stained, but I was 6-7 and 100% effaced. At about 5:30pm I was an 8-9. At 6pm I was ready to push, but couldn't because the doctor was still getting ready to deliver. So, when he finally get ready (not sure what time) about 6:10 or 6:15pm they put my legs in stirrups (old school way, I guess, didn't have to use them with Tom-Tom) I don't remember how many pushes maybe 4 or 5 pushes and she was born at 6:26pm on December 1st.
